Organizing all of the items you will be taking with you during your travels can sometimes be a very challenging task.  It is sometimes difficult to keep all of your money, credit cards, identification, and other important travel documents in order, while also managing your luggage and family.  However, there are a few general suggestions that can to help you figure out your travel organizational woes, as well as a few good products that can help anybody stay organized while traveling.

One of the most daunting tasks when it comes to traveling is dealing with the management of all of your important documents.  It is crucial to have your tickets, boarding passes, identification, passport (if necessary), cash and credit cards readily available. A skinny wallet is a great product that can help you stay organized.  These accordion-like wallets can hold as many as ten or more pockets to keep all of your paperwork separate, organized, and easily accessible. This balance is crucial when it comes to keeping travel paperwork in one place, and will help ease your trip along in a less stressful way.

Another challenge, at least for those who will be using air travel during their journey, is dealing with security measures.  Before any flight, one should log onto an official government web page to find out what restrictions are in place for carry on bags.  While things are pretty standard at this point, there is always some possibility of change.  It is also important to check with your particular airline about any specific restrictions that they have.  One of the most challenging security measures to deal with is not being allowed to carry liquid or gels over a certain quantity onto a flight. Luckily, many intrepid companies have gone out of their way to create storage containers that fit all of the requirements set out by the government.  Small two ounce clear containers paired with quart sized plastic bags are always a key part to these products, and the variety comes in how they are embellished with extra containers for non-liquid items, carrying cases and other similar items.

Traveling by car provides its own set of organizational problems. Dealing with being cooped up in a vehicle for long periods of time that is messy can be fairly traumatic.  Products such as the over the seat hanger or insulated bag are excellent tools in keeping your vehicle organized.  It is important to keep the floor clear of debris so that passengers can sit comfortably, and hanging items such as these off of back of the front seats can be incredibly useful.  The hanger is a great place to hold books, toys, maps and other assorted items, and the insulated bag is great for snacks.  You can also invest in a mini refrigerator that will plug into your car’s power outlet as it stores snacks and drinks.

Using small overnight luggage bags can help you in dealing with long road trips, as it will prevent you from having to pack and unpack a larger bag every time you stop at a hotel.  The aforementioned skinny wallet is also great for car trips, as it can hold all of your travel documentation and maps easily.  Beyond that, it is also crucial to find a way to easily store CDs, DVDs or mp3 players that you brought along the ride for entertainment.  Special disk sleeves that hang off of your car visors can be an effective way to accomplish this, but if your collection is especially large you may want to consider devoting some money into a large binder for your disks, and storing that in your car.

The greatest overall asset when it comes to staying organized when you are traveling is to know what you are getting yourself into beforehand.  While there will always be something unexpected in the process, it will be impossible to adjust and adapt if you do not plan well.  Therefore, you should invest in products accordingly.  If you know you will be spending a lot of time waiting for flights, or as a passenger on a train, car, or other mode of transportation, make sure you find a way to stay entertained that is easily accessible.

Having to unpack all of your items to find one thing can be very annoying during traveling. If there is a chance that you will need something, then be sure to keep that in mind ahead of time and go out of your way to make it easily accessible.  Organizer bags, skinny wallets, insulated car bags, and other such items are great ways to achieve that eventual goal, but the success eventually comes down to your ability to plan ahead.

From Bangaldesh to Pakistan–Best Route?

I want to start out from Dhaka Bangaldesh and travel to Karachi Pakistan and I need suggestions for the fastest and safest route to get there.

Air travel is not an option. I have 7 days. Any suggestions? Google maps is not helping any which is why I am hoping someone here who knows there way around India/Bangaldesh/Pakistan can help me out.
I realize the situation of what’s going on in Pakistan right now.
Thank you, slsmhu, for your detailed help!

My other question would regard the cost of a journey like this? How much can I estimate to pay?

Welcome in Bangladesh!

You may like to travel from Dhaka to Kolkata –India by private Special Bus service belonging to “Shamoly Paribahan” or you may avail Bangladesh Government (BRTC)’s Special Bus service in that route. You may also avail Indian Government’s Special Bus service on their return journeys.

From Kolkata you can take train service, I like the “Rajdhani Express”, that would land you safely in New Delhi -India in a reasonably comfortable journey with night time sleeping berth.

From New Delhi to Lahore -Pakistan you may take Bus service in the name of ‘Sada-e-Sarhad’, a newly introduced line where advance booking must be made to avoid last minute disappointment.

Alternately, you may travel from New Delhi to Amritsar by their internal bus or by train service, I’m not familiar with that sector but know from my friends that the service.

Thereafter, you can take Bus service in the name of ‘Dosti Express’ for Amritsar to Lahore –Pakistan, very recently introduced.

Have a nice trip!

First, you need the money to travel. Air travel and cruises can be expensive, so the safest bet is for you to earn as much money as you can. You can start by making money online. Sure, this is a long shot, but it can give you a lot of residual income that you can use as you assemble your travel itinerary and live your dreams. There are many ways to make money online: you can put up a website or blog, and write really useful content, and then apply to be paid to write such content; you can post affiliate links or ads on your site, so that you can get commissions each time your visitors click on these links or ads; or you can simply put up your own business and market products or services.

Supplement this income by keeping your day job and by saving a lot of money. Set aside a couple of hundreds each week as your special traveling fund. Make a habit of setting this money aside, and have no excuse whatsoever to take anything out of that fund. Always keep in mind that traveling is an investment in your mind traveling widens your horizons and makes you more acquainted with other cultures; traveling makes you dream about the things that you do not have yet, but it can also make you more aware of and appreciative of the things that you do have. If you have this mindset about traveling, you will not have a difficult time setting money aside.

Always be on the lookout for budget tours and travel packages that can help you save money. Many famous locations, such as Rome, Venice, Madrid, Cannes, the French Riviera, and Monaco can be expensive to go to, but because they are so popular, it will only be a matter of time before more and more packages are offered for such locations. Ask your local travel agent about travel rates to these places so that you have a benchmark to determine whether a travel package or budget tour will really save you money.

Check out the websites of airlines, as many airlines offer their own package tours, complete with hotel stays. Such tours can save you money on both tours and airfare, so be on the lookout for bargains. See if you can get discounts on tickets, especially if you book months, or even a year in advance. Discounts can help you travel to your dream location in the first place, so that all you have to worry about are accommodations and tours.

Be on the lookout online for new hotels and pension houses at your favored destination. They can offer you discounts, perhaps even day tours or walking tours of your destination city. One school of thought is that you can stay at a budget pension house because all you need to do is sleep there traveling like the rich and famous need not entail sleeping like the rich and famous, as you can still save enough money to eat out at good restaurants or buy luxury items from your traveling location of choice.

Another school of thought involves reaching out to people who can be your friends at the destination of choice. Look for people online who live at the locations you want to go to. Make new friends, widen your digital social circle, and communicate with these people regularly. The natives of a place might not be able to offer you their homes for you to sleep in, but they can recommend good places for you to shop in, rent rooms at, or visit when you finally get your tickets to visit them.

Traveling like the rich and famous can be easy if you have a few tricks up your sleeve. If you know how to save money before and during your trip, and if you know how to use your money wisely, you can have the travel package you have always dreamed about.

Why does Pelosi believe she deserves her own new plane?

They want to spend over $200 million for new planes. For privacy and not having to pay for additional riders, like a free ride for the elite politicians. Is this not a waste of money at a time when we have a 1.5 trillion deficit?
Now, according to Investors Business Daily and other publications, Pelosi wants her own air force. “The Democrat-controlled House wants to buy nearly $200 million worth of private jets so lawmakers and a few high-level bureaucrats can travel in style,” the paper reported Wednesday.

nancy pelosi’s a b*tch. but surely we’ve all known that?!

they’re worried about “travelling in style” when the unemployment in michigan is 15% and americans are worried about how they’re going to put the next meal on their table? i f*cking hate the government. soo much.

Air Travel Baggage Rules

Air Travel Baggage Rules

Are luggage worries stopping you from taking that dream vacation? If so, you are not alone. With the current financial picture not looking so great and people having less money to go around, buying decent luggage has become the least of their priorities. Good thing there are ways to get at good luggage without burning a hole in your pocket.

Travel Baggage Made Inexpensive

Sure, times are hard and a trip to Vermont or Hawaii is not cheap, but everybody could use a vacation once in a while. Luggage should be a minor concern as it is one area you can easily save serious bucks. Here are a few tips on how to keep luggage costs down.

• Purchase unclaimed luggage – Airports can sell off the unclaimed baggage, but most of them wholesale it to a particular one-of-a-kind store.
• Share travel baggage with family – When traveling with a sweetheart or the entire family, consider condensing the luggage. This works well for places where you are charged for every checked suitcase. Depending on how big the family is, savings could hit over $100 per trip.
• Try luggage shipping – With baggage shipping services, customers pack all their things and they are picked up at the door. The luggage is then delivered to the destination place. Although these services are available at a premium, customers can look forward to considerable money saved. Items like skis, snowboards and golf clubs are frequently damaged when checked with airlines. The airlines will not reimburse customers for any damage unless the damage is proven. Airlines often avoid liability by making the equipment’s owners sign waivers. The end-result? You wind up paying more to have the damaged goods repaired or replaced.
• Use online coupon codes – There are lots of places online where you can buy sturdy luggage at discounted prices. Luggage Pros and Irv’s Luggage are two companies offering luggage discounts.
• Check out used luggage – Opt for used baggage in a set. A discount luggage set usually includes a carryon bag and a garment bag. Occasionally, all pieces in the luggage set have wheels. A complete wheeled luggage set with a backpack, a rolling carryon bag and a rolling garment bag is an excellent way to obtain the best price on baggage.
• Space-saving bags are in – There are bags made for air travels. People place their clothes in them then apply pressure by tipping or leaning into them. Clothes shrink when packed in these travel bags, creating more room and eliminating the need for a second suitcase.
• Big is beautiful – Go for large suitcases. Majority of airlines enforce strict rules when it comes to carryon luggage. They are laxer with checked luggage. Airlines usually charge around $25 (one way) for a second suitcase. If you are planning to bring two small suitcases, consider trading it in for just one big suitcase.
• Think dual purpose – Most people now use carryon cases as laptop bags too. Computer luggage doing double duty must be flexible as well as easy to handle. Get more out of the bag by considering the following features: removable toiletry kit; telescoping handle; padded compartment for computer system peripherals; in-line skate wheels; removable padded laptop carry case; padded, contoured, non-slip shoulder strap; and removable file holder.

Traveling does not have to leave you flat broke. There are plenty of ways to cut corners and still enjoy that long-awaited excursion. The info mentioned here ought to be enough to get you started and hopefully, send you packing – for a relaxing vacation.

What are the new rules when traveling by air?

I know they loosened the restrictions and I did read up on the changes but am still confused. Can some clarify? Can I bring liquids in my check in baggage? Can I bring any luggage as a carry on, or just my purse?

In the USA you are allowed to bring 1 qt size zip top bag with 3oz or smaller containers of liquid. You are allowed 1 carry on bag and 1 personal item such as a purse (the UK liquids about the same 100ml but only 1 bag period)

Air Travel On Christmas Eve

Air Travel On Christmas Eve

Christmas celebrations in African nations is characterized by much outdoor activity because the season often occurs during a time when the weather is pleasant. Using palm trees and participating in processions are also characteristic features of activities related to Christmas in many parts of Africa.

In South Africa, activities that occur outside during Christmas include the usual caroling, but also the unusual ones of swimming and camping. The beach and mountains play an important role during Christmas in South Africa because the season occurs during the hottest time of the year – summer.

Given the pleasant nature of the weather during Christmas, families also take advantage of it by often going sightseeing in the countryside on a relaxing drive in the late evening of Christmas Day. A rich and sumptuous menu that includes a suckling pig or roast beef, turkey, mince pies, yellow rice, vegetables and puddings usually makes up the traditional South African Christmas dinner.

To create a festive environment, decorated pine branches and fir, sparkling cotton wool and tinsel are used in homes and businesses as decorations.

A similar decorative pattern of using evergreen, palm trees and lighted candles are also seen in countries such as Ghana and Liberia. While these are used in homes and businesses, they are also often carried in processions and during caroling activities.

While South Africans gather at the beach during Christmas time to enjoy the warm summer waters, people in other African nations often gather outside at in town squares and in the streets to march, sing and enjoy an overall feeling of merriment.

Despite the seemingly general similarity in activities, however, countries have their own individual style that makes Christmas celebrations unique.

Of all the celebrations in African nations, Christmas activities in Ethiopia stand out for their difference in when they are celebrated and how it is done. One of the features that make Ethiopian Christmas different is that the main celebratory event occurs on Jan. 7, around the time known as the Epiphany or Three Kings Day in North and South America.

Given the general modest economic financial situations of a significant number of the population in many African countries, Christmas celebrations also tend to occur over a shorter period of time, compared to activities in more wealthier countries.

Another difference in celebrations of Christmas in Ethiopia is the participation of various people who take part in a pilgrimage and converge on the capital city during Christmas Eve. These wanderers fill the night air with a din of praying and chanting and create a multicolor spectacle when they gather on Christmas morning to have a religious service.

But retaining a similarity with other African nations, Ethiopians enjoy a Christmas dinner that includes a meat stew. Stews, rice, root vegetables such as yams, breads and soups often are part of the menu of traditional Christmas day dinners in African nations.

Christmas dinners are likely enjoyed by families outside, where everyone shares the meal while sitting in a circular pattern outside under the shade of a sprawling tree, instead of sitting in a formal setting at a table.

As is the practice in every household during Christmas, Africans also exchange gifts. Popular items that are exchanged as Christmas gifts include cotton cloth, soaps, sweets, pencils and books, all very practical items that can be readily used. Again, this may be related to the modest financial resources of up to half the population in many African countries, as well as to cultural norms. Individuals aren’t able to afford extravagant gifts but they still want to surprise children, family and friends at Christmas with an unexpected gift. The generally pervasive cultural norm of humility and modesty that exists among traditional African peoples, also plays an important role in not having overreaching extravagance at Christmas.

Anyone know where I can find the travel channel special about Disneyworld at Christmas?

I am looking for a special that aired on the travel channel on Christmas eve about Christmas at Disneyworld. I believe it was hosted by Samantha Brown. I wasn’t able to find it on the travel channel’s webpage. Any ideas?

I saw that show on December 14th, 2003. I don’t expect it to be on any time in the moth coming, but plan on it around the Holiday season, starting from Thanksgiving-Christmas.

Around that time I’ll go onto my search mode on my DVR and type in “Disney” and look at the options. The show you are speaking of is titled “Walt Disney World Holidays”.

I have this show recorded onto my DVR and it’s very enjoyable! Samantha Brown gives a very detailed account of all that goes on during the Holiday season.

The thing I love about the Travel Channel is that they air a show almost 10 times every two days. So if you miss some of it, plan on it being aired in another hour or so.

Wait until the holiday season, and then start sarching. I remember it being on frequently.

Best of Luck!

Air Travel Between Hawaiian Islands

Air Travel Between Hawaiian Islands

Got your mind on that much deserved break? Would you like to get away from all the hustle and bustle of city life? Why not go traveling around the Hawaiian Islands? Let me give you a brief tour around the famous Hawaiian Islands.

The Hawaiian Islands have everything that you could imagine a paradise would have. From its multicultural people with the aloha spirit to beautiful surroundings with warm, tranquil, sandy beaches merging with rain forests, heavenly waterfalls, and marvelous historical sites. There’s no place like Hawaii.

Hop around the Hawaiian Island chain and you will discover the beauty and uniqueness of each island. There are six major islands that you can easily visit in Hawaii…Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii, or the “Big Island.” Each island offers a distinct and extraordinary experience. We invite you to explore Hawaii and find the most unique island experience for you, your family, or your business group.

First, I’ll show you the majestic island of Kauai. Kauai is about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. Kauai is often called the Garden Isle due to its everlasting beauty, comparable enough to the Garden of Eden.

Things to do in Kauai:

  • Hike, boat, kayak, or take a helicopter ride to discover the magnificent beauty of the famous Na Pali Coast
  • Hike up to Waimea Canyon, dubbed as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” – a must see attraction when visiting Kauai
  • Go kayaking on the Wailua River

Second, is an island described to have an ageless and natural beauty, which is better known as the “Gathering Place,” the island of Oahu. It is a very geographically diverse island with mountains, dormant volcanoes, rainforests, and famous surf spots, all close to a bustling metropolitan city. There is no shortage of things to do here in this island.

Things to do in Oahu:

· Surf at the world renowned site in Oahu, the Waikiki Beach

· Sunbathe, watch world class surfers, or simply enjoy the beach on the North Shore

· Stop by Hawaii’s three most famous landmarks: Diamond Head, Punchbowl, and Koko Head craters

· Visit the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor

· Go see art galleries

· Be amazed at the architecture in Iolani Palace

· Dine and feast at five star restaurants

· Lastly, dress up, enjoy, have fun, and experience the nightlife in town

Third, get back to nature and find serenity in Molokai Island. The “Friendly Island” is free from traffic, high-rises, malls, and nightclubs. Molokai Island offers tranquility, seclusion, and most of all, adventure. It is ideal for those seeking peacefulness or simply just getting away from the bustling city life.

Things to do in Molokai:

· Take a hike through the spectacular Halawa Valley

· Learn about the famous leper colony in Molokai at the Kalaupapa National Historical Park. Accessible only by foot, mule, or plane so take your pick

· Go boating along the North Shore and see the world’s tallest sea cliffs

Fourth is Lanai, Hawaii’s most enticing island – perfect for that idyllic and romantic setting. If you are looking for a luxurious resort, world class golf course, outdoor adventure, or purely a vacation with comfort, style, and grace, the “Pineapple Island” is the place to visit.

Things to do in Lanai:

· Go hiking at Munro Trail and see the breathtaking views of the neighboring islands.

· Rent a four wheel drive vehicle and drive to see the lunar landscape of Keahiakawelo

· Go dolphin watching at the Hulopoe Bay

· Play golf at The Challenge of Manele and The Experience of Koele – two championship golf courses in Lanai

Fifth, voted the “Best Hawaiian Island” and sometimes called the “Valley Isle,” is the island of Maui. There is always something for everyone in the sun drenched island: you can go whale watching, play golf, drive around, or go hiking.

Things to do in Maui:

· Go whale watching and catch a glimpse of a humpback whale

· Watch the sunrise atop a dormant volcano, the Haleakala Crater

· Visit museums or spend a day in shops or restaurants in Lahaina

Sixth, it’s all here on the largest and most diverse of the Hawaiian Islands, sometimes called the “Orchid Isle” or the “Volcano Isle.” Referred to by locals as “The Big Island,” it is the most varied, yet least discovered Hawaiian island. For secluded hideaways and adventures that nurture your body and spirit…. come and see what the Big Island of Hawaii has to offer.

Things to do in the Big Island:

  • View the spectacular active lava flow at Kilauea, in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park
  • Kayak to a secluded cove, scuba dive, or snorkel in the azure waters of Kona and Kohala
